Outdoor Earth Day Scavenger Hunt
Grab an adult and take a walk in nature. Observe these 10 things. If you collect any items, be sure to return them to nature!
- Find something green.
- Look for something flat.
- Find something brown.
- Look for something on 4 legs.
- Listen for a bird.
- Touch something soft.
- Listen for sounds made by a person.
- Find something wet.
- Smell something sweet.
- Find something beautiful.

Get an adult, sibling or friend to be your partner.
Go outside and try to find the letters of the alphabet in nature.
Here are a Few Ideas:
Spread out a blanket and lie on your back. Try to find the letters in the clouds.
Look at the patterns on flowers, leaves and branches. Use a magnifying glass to find the letters.
Get a pair of binoculars. Look for the letters in trees and bushes that are far away.

Take a journey around the world, from home! Explore your house for these items.

Did it take a lot of time to make it?
Think about all of the things you used.
Did you use crayons, scissors, glue or tape?
Those things probably came from the store.
Before they were on store shelves, someone had to make those items. Imagine where and how they were made.
- Find Something Made in Your Community
Do you know the person who made it? He or she probably spent a lot of time on it. Think about all of the different things they used to make it.
- Find Something Made in Your State OR Something that Represents Your State
(Examples: logos, team jerseys, traveling keepsakes)
Wherever you live, you probably like your state best. Look at your state on the map. Think about all of the people that live there too. They probably love it as much as you do!
- Find Something Made in a Different State OR that Represents a Different State
What state is it? Is it near your state? Find it on the map. Do you think more people live there than in your state?
- Find Something Made in Your Country
Does it say what city or state it was made in? If so, try to find that location on the map. Did the item have to travel far to reach your state?
- Find Something Made in a Foreign Country
What country is it? Find it on the map. Imagine what life is like in this country. What language do they speak? What do they do for fun?
Look at your city again on the map. Did the item have to travel far to reach you?
Crafty Earth Day Scavenger Hunt
Get creative with this Earth Day project. This is a great way to recycle items you already have.
Collect old magazines, greeting cards, and newspapers from around the house.
Cut out items from nature. Cut out real flowers and animals. Or, design you own patterns.
Make your own nature collage!
