What is Earth Hour?Earth Hour is a global campaign created to raise awareness about climate change. Individuals and businesses throughout the world honor the Earth by turning out their lights for an hour.The world's largest conservation organization, World Wildlife Fund (WWF), started Earth Hour in 2007. Initiated in Sydney, the hour honoring the planet has become a big event on all seven continents. From the tallest building in Dubai, to the most romantic spot in Paris, many of the world's most popular landmarks participate.
Activity In the United StatesAccording to the WWF, individuals from all 50 states join in. Government officials from 33 states endorsed the event. Those states are: Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

New York City: Chrysler Building and Empire State Building,
San Francisco: Golden Gate Bridge,
