Going Green for My Grandchildren

by Dee
(Tampa, FL)

I have three wonderful grandchildren, ages 5, 6 and 9. I am living green to show them a simple lifestyle.

I worry about the amount of toys and video games that they have. They aren't given more than the average child in America. It's just so much more than I had. It's more than my own children had too.

I live in a small home, so I ask them not to bring many things with them. I live a simple life and want them to have a glimpse of that. We go to the beach and park. They love helping in the garden!

When I was a child, my mother sent us out to play. It was our time to explore our wonderful earth. So many children stay indoors and miss out on nature.

I'm trying to teach them to use what you have. They made your homemade playdough recipe last week. They were so proud! We used rolling pins and cookie cutters to shape it and gum drops for decoration. These were all things in the cupboard. This impressed them. They thought playdough had to be bought at a store.

Thank you for the information you provide. Your site is wonderful!
