Gertie is a green sea turtle living off the shores of Florida. She loves swimming, sunbathing and hanging out with her ocean friends of various species.
Gertie's all time favorite hobby is people watching.
She has watched humans discover the bliss of her waters for decades. From the thrill of the first catch on a deep sea fishing journey, to children squealing with delight as racing waters reach the shore, Gertie has witnessed many amazing moments.
On World Ocean Day, she came to land in search of new friends to help better her waters.
When she arrived, Gertie discovered that her land loving friends in the Gulf region were suffering too.
While locals residents help her friends in the waters and strive to keep the beaches clean, Gertie set out to do something for them.
By partnering with the folks at the Going Green Challenge, Gertie has raised funds to start her I Love Locals campaign.
Through I Love Locals, Gertie is able to give back to the local businesses in the gulf region.
100% of proceeds are used to support locally owned restaurants, shops, and other hard hit tourist spots.
