Earth Friendly Staples Transform
Into Homemade Silver Polish
Making a homemade silver polish is easy. Chances are, you already all of the ingredients.
Instead of buying disposal dishware for your backyard barbeque, pull out your great-grandma's flatware.
It may seem formal, but silver looks great when paired with a red checkered tablecloth and summer picnic baskets.
If your formal flatware has been hiding away, it will need a good cleaning. Try one of these natural cleaning recipes.
Homemade Silver Cleaner
2 tablespoons baking soda
1 tablespoon salt
aluminum foil (recycled, if possible)
glass dish
hot water
Line a glass dish with aluminum foil. A 9x13 works well. Add silver. Make sure it touches as much of the foil as possible. The chemical reaction to the foil is what removes the tarnish.
Bring water to a boil. Add salt and baking soda. Carefully, poor water over silver. (Do this over the sink for safest results). Let soak for 30 minutes. Rinse.
Homemade Silver Polish
1 cup whole milk
3 teaspoons cream of tarter
Mix and let soak overnight. Rinse with cold water and wipe dry.
Homemade Polish II
1 cup whole milk
1 tablespoon vinegar or lemon juice
Mix and let soak overnight. Rinse with cold water and wipe dry.
